Hicks Farm is located where the three counties of Shropshire, Herefordshire and Powys meet – an unspoilt and quiet part of the country perfect for relaxing family breaks. There’s plenty to see and do in the area, including walking, mountain biking, horse trekking, quad biking and go-karting. Or take a trip to family friendly attractions nearby including Go Ape in the Wyre Forest, the Offa’s Dyke visitor centre in Knighton, or the Small Breeds Farm Park and Owl Centre.

ACCOMMODATION AND PRICES
There are two cottages at Hicks Farm: Orchard House, sleeping up to 14 people in 5 bedrooms (plus three cots), and Rose Cottage, sleeping 7 people in 3 bedrooms (plus two cots). Both properties have four star tourist board ratings.
Orchard House, the bigger of the two properties, is a delightful barn conversion offering spacious and characterful accommodation. Original features like exposed beams abound, with the property offering a comfortable lounge, large kitchen diner, and large enclosed garden. Orchard House is perfect for multi-generational family stays, benefitting from a range of accessibility features including hearing loops, emergency alarms, grab rails, wide doorways and a downstairs bedroom suite including ensuite.
Rose Cottage, meanwhile, is also a sizeable and detached property with unique original features including wooden beams and a complete bread oven! There’s a large farmhouse kitchen and dining room, a well-furnished lounge and three spacious bedrooms.
For an idea of prices, weekly prices for a stay in 7-bed Rose Cottage during the peak school summer holiday season are around £2200, falling to £1500 during low season (and short breaks are available from £1000). Larger Orchard House costs between £3500 and £5500 per week depending on the time of year, with three-night short breaks from £2450.
CHILD FRIENDLY HOLIDAY FEATURES
Hicks Farm is set in over 150 acres meaning there’s a vast amount of safe, open space to enjoy as a family – exploring the marked trails, picnicking in the woods, paddling in the streams or searching for the local wildlife including badgers and hedgehogs. The farm itself is also host to lambs and pigs at certain times of year, which presents visiting children the opportunity to bottle feed lambs in the spring, deliver the feed bucket to the pigs in summer/autumn or collect eggs from the hens all year round.
There are some excellent other child friendly amenities available at Hicks Farm, including the luxurious indoor swimming pool open all year and exclusively for the use of guests on the farm.
Overlooking the swimming pool is an indoor games room perfect for children of all ages; this offers a pool table, table football and children’s play corner with various toys to enjoy.
Outside there’s also a separate play area with climbing frame, slide and sandpit – plus the all important bench and table for mum and dad to relax in the sun.
Toys and board games can be found in both properties, along with fun outdoor toys including a cricket set, football and fishing net.
PARENT FRIENDLY HOLIDAY FEATURES
Each property at Hicks Farm benefits from its own fenced and private garden, providing a safe haven for both young children and pets (well behaved dogs are welcome here) to play.
There are also two incredible BBQ cabins at the farm – a smaller one exclusively for the use of Rose Cottage guests, and a larger cabin situated in its own fenced area big enough to accommodate everyone from both properties and which also offers a DIY bar. These cabins provide a unique and cosy place to enjoy a family meal without needing to worry about what the weather will permit.
There are plenty of delightful and popular local pubs or restaurants nearby, and taxis can be booked to bring you all back to the farm. Or, enjoy a relaxing meal at home by booking outside caterers to come and provide a luxury feast!
High chairs, cots and other baby and toddler equipment is available to borrow if needed, saving valuable packing space in the car. Wifi is provided.
