ACCOMMODATION AND PRICES

Accommodation at Augill Castle offers a unique blend of history and comfort – it’s like stepping into a storybook!  The rooms are welcoming and charming, often featuring four-poster beds, quirky furniture, and with huge windows offering stunning views of the surrounding countryside.

Particularly suitable for families, there are interconnecting suites and spacious options like the Coach House, which can sleep up to eight guests and has loads of space for everyone to spread out, including a large family sitting room with log burning stove.  Or for something super magical, check out four-bed Orangery – its amazing arched gothic windows are like something out of a film.

For an idea of prices, a three-night stay for a family of four in the Orangery during the summer peak period costs £700.

CHILD FRIENDLY HOLIDAY FEATURES

From the moment you arrive, Augill Castle makes families feel right at home. The atmosphere is refreshingly laid-back, allowing children to explore and play without the usual constraints of traditional hotels where you might sometimes feel your little ones are unintentionally disturbing others.  You won’t find any “keep off the grass” signs here!  Instead, this is a hotel with a genuine and deliberate family friendly vibe, with every little detail thought of, and thereby ensuring a relaxing experience for parents and children alike.

The castle’s 20-acre grounds are a playground just waiting to be explored. Children can let their imagination run wild in the treehouse, explore nature trails, or enjoy the adventure playground with swings, slides and climbing frame.  There’s also a tennis court to enjoy.

Inside, there’s a reading and cinema room with a big screen and DVD library – perfect entertainment for all the family.  If your kids are into dressing up then they’ll love the trunk full of princess and knight costumes just waiting to be tried on.

PARENT FRIENDLY HOLIDAY FEATURES

Mealtimes at Augill Castle are a treat for the whole family, and a doddle for mums and dads.  The on-site restaurant offers a range of simple but delicious kids’ meals, ensuring even the pickiest eaters are satisfied.  Afternoon teas are also available for a perfect post-adventure snack, and dinner at the castle is a relaxed affair so parents don’t need to worry too much about the noise!

Mums and dads deserve some me time too, and the castle bar is just the spot for a glass of wine or a local craft beer.  There’s even a library full of books, just the place for a bit of peace and quiet when you need it.

Augill Castle is great for multi-generation family get-togethers because everyone from granny and grandpa to the youngest member of the family feels equally at home.

Everything you might need when travelling with children, from cots and highchairs to baby monitors & spare supplies, is available to borrow.

WHAT THE OWNERS SAY

augill castle logo

“Augill Castle may be unlike anywhere you have ever stayed before. Why? It is, as one guest wrote, perfectly imperfect. The castle has been our family home for twenty four years and we seek to recreate a slice of our life here for you. We aren’t trying to be a luxury hotel which strives to create order out of chaos, rather to celebrate with like-minded people the fact that life is chaotic and we’re all in it together.

And as for that beat; it changes with the seasons. The castle is a very different place during school holidays when families fill the place and if you are lucky enough to find yourself here on a quiet night midweek you may find you can create your own music.”
