ACCOMMODATION AND PRICES

Before you read on: Our ‘quirky stays’ holiday collection showcases a handful of child and family friendly holidays which we think are totally unique compared with the standard cottages, hotels and lodges we usually feature. Because these holidays are so unusual, they don’t necessarily come with all the trappings of the other holidays on Parent Friendly Stays – swimming pools, play areas, hot tubs and so on (though some still do).  What we do think, though, is that they offer a superb and utterly memorable destination for you and your family; and for that reason alone we think they’re well worth inclusion as a parent friendly holiday destination.

This holiday comprises a unique converted 300 year old windmill, lovingly combining historic features with modern comforts, and with a wealth of James Bond-themed touches reflecting its former ownership by 007 himself actor Roger Moore.

The property sleeps up to five people in three bedrooms, and there are two bathrooms. The windmill boasts a circular industrial style kitchen, and a film-themed lounge/dining area with wood burner and smart TV. At the very top of the windmill, on the fourth floor, is an aerial lounge with private balcony/viewing gallery to take in the far-reaching views across the Norfolk Broads.

Given its age and quirky arrangement, you should expect some steep and tricky staircases in places. Parking is provided, but it’s a short walk (700 yards) away from the windmill; and given the layout and proximity of open water, those with children of all ages will want to take extra care, and the property is not suited to those with younger tots. This is one for older kids, and teenagers.

For an idea of prices, a week’s stay in the summer peak costs around £2400, while a long weekend out of season can be yours from around £1525.

PARENT FRIENDLY HOLIDAY FEATURES

It offers a unique and memorable location for a family holiday on the Norfolk Broads: 360-degree views of beautiful scenery and wonderful wildlife, and many sunspots and outdoor dining areas to while away the hours. The garden benefits from a charcoal BBQ and a small pizza oven.

The log burner in the living room ensures you’ll have a warm and cosy place to retire to in those chillier winter months.

WiFi is provided, and dogs are welcome for a small additional charge.  There are pubs and shops within walking distance.
