Our review of Birdforth Hall Holiday Cottages
ACCOMMODATION AND PRICES
There are four properties to choose from at Birdforth Hall. Three of the properties (The Granary, The Stables and the Byre) have four bedrooms, each sleeping up to nine people, while the largest cottage – Mill House – has five bedrooms, sleeping ten.
Mill House and the Byre can also be amalgamated into one large property, with a total of 21 beds across nine bedrooms, making it a great option for extended family gatherings or several families looking to getaway together.
As converted barns, the properties benefit from a variety of attractive original features – exposed beams, stone flagged floors and arrow-slit windows – bringing a wealth of character, yet sympathetically converted to provide comfortable self-catering accommodation with all the modern amenities and comforts you’d expect.
For an idea of prices, a week in The Stables during the summer holiday peak costs around £3225 – but remember that’s for a nine bed cottage, easily big enough for two families to share. Short breaks are also available, and prices drop during less busy periods.
CHILD FRIENDLY HOLIDAY FEATURES
Birdforth Hall provides plenty of safe, open space for children to enjoy during their stay; and there are exhilarating walks through the dales, woodland and local villages right on your doorstep.
The complex’s indoor heated swimming pool is a great place for children of all ages to relax and unwind.
There’s also an indoor play room (adjacent to the pool so more suited to older children) with table tennis and pool table.
PARENT FRIENDLY HOLIDAY FEATURES
There’s a shared BBQ garden available for the use of all guests, providing the perfect place for al-fresco dining. Dinner times are also made easy by the optional food hampers (including full English breakfast and BBQ packs) and home cooked oven-ready meals available to purchase: options include family classics like lasagne, fish pie and beef casserole. For a real treat, a private chef can be pre-booked offering a bespoke three-course menu.
On cooler days, curl up in front of the cosy log burners in each property to relax with a movie and a glass of wine. Or make use of the on-site sauna facilities (at the time of writing still to be completed – check before you book).
Baby and toddler essentials like travel cots and high chairs are available to borrow in all properties.
Pets are permitted to stay in two of the cottages, and dog beds and bowls can be supplied.
IN SUMMARY…
Birdforth Hall has recently been taken on by new owners, who’ve fully refurbished the holiday complex – we think the cottages and facilities look superb, and a great option for parents considering a family holiday in beautiful North Yorkshire.
