ACCOMMODATION AND PRICES
Accommodation with Camp Wilderness takes the form of safari-style bell tents accommodating families of up to six people.
Costs at Camp Wilderness include the entire Family Camp experience – a two day (one night) stay costs £429 for two adults and two children (suitable for children aged 6-16) or £539 for a three day (two night) camp. Camps take place across July and August, and book up fast, so early booking to secure your place is advisable. Prices are fully inclusive of all activities, accommodation and food including snacks.
CHILD FRIENDLY HOLIDAY FEATURES
The camp is set within 2100 acres of private woodland, providing a unique wilderness retreat and a real escape from modern life. There’s a ‘no tech’ rule wherever possible and phone use is discouraged.
There’s no shortage of safe outdoor space for children to explore and enjoy, and a wide range of exciting organised activities during your two or three day family camp: fire-lighting, wilderness cookery, shelter-building, camp craft, fireside stories, marshmallows and hot chocolate, first aid and more.
All the activities are designed to build youngsters’ confidence and resilience by exposing them to a varied selection of exciting outdoor experiences. Instructors are fully qualified experts in their field with high standards of care, health and safety and activity provision.
PARENT FRIENDLY HOLIDAY FEATURES
Family camps are a unique opportunity for parents to have fun with your children on a different type of holiday; crowd around the fire together and make some forever memories. And everything is guided by experts, meaning you and your little ones are guaranteed an action-packed stay where everything’s been organised on your behalf.
The camps take place over the summer months – a perfect activity during the long school holidays – but in the case of inevitable rain, the camps are well equipped with large tipi structures. Combined with the tree canopy, activities should go ahead whatever the weather.
All meals are provided, and freshly cooked by experienced on-site field chefs using high quality ingredients. All meals are eaten communally around the central campfire, and all dietary requirements can be catered for. Typical meals include wood-fired pizzas, casseroles, bushcraft BBQs and other classics like Apple Crumble and Eton Mess. Children are also encouraged to get involved and taught how to safely cook over the open fires.
Camps are not suitable for pets and, probably unsurprisingly, there’s no Wi-Fi provided!
IN SUMMARY…
We love the look of the Camp Wilderness family camps; a memorable two or three day wilderness experience for all the family. With accommodation, food and activities taken care of (and a welcome enforced break from screens for everyone!) what more could a parent want?
