Thistle Lodges is set in Scotland’s southern-most region, Dumfries and Galloway: famous for spectacular coastliones, sandy beaches, hidden lochs and majestic hills. The region is home to a range of family friendly attractions great for holiday days out: Cream O’Galloway Adventure Park; Drumlanrig Castle; RSPB Mersehead; Dumfries Ice Bowl; Mabie Farm Park; and many more. Child friendly cycle tracks can be found as part of the wider network of ‘7stanes’ mountain biking routes.

ACCOMMODATION AND PRICES
The Thistle Lodges are constructed using traditional Scandinavian techniques and offer comfortable, well-equipped holiday accommodation. Each lodge benefits from a large living and dining area and fully equipped kitchen: light, airy and spacious interior spaces thanks to the two sets of double patio doors. Outside, the lodges have two balconies to ensure you’ll make the most of the lovely countryside views.
Sleeping 4-8 people, the lodges are ideal for a family base. Each has two double bedrooms plus a further four single beds on the open plan first floor, providing room for one large or two smaller families. Of course, if you hire more than one lodge, then larger groups can be accommodated too: up to 24 people in total. The lodges are all within a few yards of each other making this a great option for bigger groups.
For an idea of prices, a week at Thistle Lodges during the summer holiday peak period costs around £930, while an out-of-season break of the same length can be found for considerably less. That’s great value, especially when you consider the price may be split between two families!
CHILD FRIENDLY HOLIDAY FEATURES
All stays at Thistle Lodges provide free exclusive use of the private holiday village’s shared on-site swimming pool. Here at Parent Friendly Stays we love having a pool as part of our holiday: great daily fun, guaranteed whatever the weather!
The lodges are a short ten-minute walk to the beach, making it easy to head out for a day of family fun building sandcastles, splashing in the waves, flying a kite or kicking the football around.
Children will also enjoy exploring the wider holiday village including strolling around the private loch (keeping an eye out for badgers, red squirrels, ducks and swans!) and the neighbouring Wild Oak Woods. And spectacular coastal walking is possible from Sandyhills to Kippford and beyond.
PARENT FRIENDLY HOLIDAY FEATURES
The south-facing balconies at Thistle Lodges provide the perfect space for mums and dads to relax at the end of the day with a drink in hand as the sun sets in front of you.
The on-site restaurant, the Beagle, makes meal times even easier if you don’t fancy cooking: excellent food is served all day.
Baby and toddler essentials like cots, high chairs and stair gates are provided in each property. Fast and free WiFi is available, and well-behaved dogs as permitted.
